About Gavin

Gavin Jones, LCSW, is a licensed mental health & sport performance clinician. He is a licensed clinical social worker in the state of NJ and has been in practice since 2021. For the last 5 years, he has worked at Princeton University, bridged between Counseling & Psychological Services and Athletics.

He holds a Master’s of Social Work (MSW) from Rutgers University (‘21) and is currently working toward becoming a Certified Mental Performance Consultant. Additionally, he is currently receiving mentorship as a certified Nature-Informed Therapist through the Center for Nature-Informed Therapy (CNIT).

During his time at Princeton, Gavin has gained experience working with highly competitive, driven athletes, performers, and high achievers at various levels of their discipline. He has also worked as an embedded clinician with Princeton Football since their 2022 season, often attending practices, games, and accompanying the team on travel trips.

Gavin operates from a holistic, relational, and strengths-based perspective, incorporating evidence-based interventions such as Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Nature-Informed Therapy, and Internal Family Systems. He combines these modalities with aspects of Existentialism, Stoicism, Indigenous wisdom, and eco-therapy.

  • Dovetailing sport & exercise psychology with ecopsychology, Gavin’s clinical and mental performance work addresses a variety of clinical and subclinical concerns such as:

    • relationships (with self, environment, & others)

  • Gavin offers sessions one-on-one or in small groups, as well as workshops/consulting services. See the tabs at the top of this site for further details.

    All sessions are held virtually, except for in-person nature-informed sessions, which are held in a pre-agreed-upon nature-based setting.

  • Individual sessions are $170 per 50 minutes.

    Group/team sessions vary depending on the service requested and # of attendees. Reach out for more details.

    Workshops start at a base rate of $250/hour, but pricing may also vary depending on timing, location, any needed materials, and # of attendees.

  • Gavin works as an out-of-network provider with all insurances, meaning all sessions are considered “self-pay”.

    Depending on the type of service sought, he is able to provide a superbill that folks can use to submit to their insurance provider for reimbursement.
